From the Orlando Sentinel: Gary Chartrand, chairman of Florida's State Board of Education, stressed Friday that no one forced Bennett to resign. In fact, he was supported by the board and encouraged to stay, Chartrand said, despite the "firestorm" that had swirled around Bennett this week. "He is a very honorable man with high integrity and cares about children,".
I wonder if Mr. Chartrand has confused caring about children with caring about money. He doesn’t mention the troubling facts that Bennett received 130 thousand dollars from the charter school operator he assisted and the lucrative job his wife got from a company Bennett gave contracts too. It seems like it is more all about the money, than all about the children.
