Solutions that don’t break the bank, reinvent the wheel or marginalize our teachers are within our grasp. We could have rigorous classes, safe and disciplined schools and treat teachers like professionals, and we could do so tomorrow if we wanted.

Children are more than just test scores
Standardized tests suck the life out of a classroom. -Little boy
This is happening all across the country, in your back yard too.
No kidding. When I informed our staff of St. Johns Co. administrators about what I would not be teaching anymore thanks to the test, test, and test some more movement along with unreasonable Common Core curriculum maps that MUST BE FOLLOWED, I received a collective shrug. The tests RULE in the SJCSD. And the data, don't get me started on that. Too bad parents don't realize their children's test data (not just FCAT scores) will remain in that database throughout their K-12 careers. Who knows in whose hands it will end up. Future employers maybe?
